At one point, Rob mentioned that he would include JEmplode/JEmptool on the CD if it got to an acceptable 1.0 version. I'm curious what the users (are there many? I have no idea .. Sourceforge's statistics are all goofy) think about the current version? Is it good enough to call "1.0"? If not, what is an absolute requirement? (keep in mind that we _will_ be doing a 1.1 version, so I'm focusing primarily on the essentials). I'd love to feel a sense of closure on a version (and I'm sure Daniel would too)... Let us know!

Mike (and speaking on behalf of Daniel without his permission)

The only ongoing problem that I have had with JEmplode that I think would need to be resolved is the ID3 tag parsing issues (being somewhat discussed in another thread). Once I modified my copy of JEmplode to disable most of the ID3 validity checking it has been working beautifully.

I think it would be great to see jemplode included on the CD.

...One problem that I've had with it is deleting items (in this case, under unattached items.. - two folders, and some spare songs..) - it wouldn't allow me to select-all/delete properly..

I like the new installer though - makes it very simple to install... This should definately be included on the cd.

I should mention that this is no longer my decision to make - I guess Tim would be the man to talk to.

Time for an essey question.

The ability to use Jemplode exclusive of Emplode is my yardstick of "Good Enough." --Glenn Beer

What is the one (hopefully there is only one) thing that keeps you from using Jemplode exclusively?

The ability to take the player "out of the box" and use Jemplode to do the software configuration and update.

Tried? Yes.. For several reasons..

First out of curiosity,
Then to check out new features,
Then out of a programming project,
and months later (now) because I thought it might support file downloads by now - before realizing that "hey - he's just using the protocol - that function isn't built in.."

Empeg Team's seal of approval - I'm comfortable using it/playing with it, but usually hesitant to make heavy db changes using it...

Simply put emplode only runs under Windows. Jemplode is written in Java and has been shown to run under various flavors of UNIX, the MacOS and I don't know where else.

To some this is very welcome. Personally I haven't booted Win anything in over a year and a half.

The only need to ask "is it good enough" is, that it hasen't had as many man years of effort put into it as emplode.

yes, quite unfair, I didn't see any poll options to allow pick all that apply. I guess you are just going to have stuff the ballot box and vote early and often.

the one time I don't preview an I go and mess up the orange quotes.
